Randy Swann- Randy Swann is a painter living in Lakeville, MA. He was educated at Swain School of Design, studying under David Loeffler Smith, Ben Martinez and Sig Haines. His work has been shown at group shows throughout southeastern Massachusetts.
"Over the past three years, I’ve begun making paintings of urban landscape, particularly in the so-called 'Gateway Cities' of Massachusetts. Places like Lowell, Brockton, Taunton, Fall River, and, of course, New Bedford. This is not unknown territory for me, having lived and studied in southeastern Massachusetts all my life. The rusty trolley tracks peeking out from old macadam, solid brickwork and corrugated steel of the mills and factories are quite familiar to me. But, as I explore more deeply, I find what makes it really interesting is not just the remnants of times gone by, but also the elements of modernity and re purpose that are weaving their way into the industrial fabric of these areas. Shadows of old architectural details, cobblestone byways, brightly painted storefronts, and other survivors of the past offer intriguing mash-ups of not only subject matter, but color, shape and forms. These are the puzzles I long to solve in my paintings." - Randy Swann
