True Grit Art Gallery is proud to present And Then The World Became Louder, a solo exhibition of collected illustrations by Bourne,MA artist Michael Doyle. This deeply personal body of work spans four years of creation (2022–2026) and offers an intimate glimpse into the often-unnoticed spaces between moments — the pauses, silences, and subtle movements that frequently go unseen by the neurotypical brain. Drawing from his signature blend of surrealism, expressionism, and bold, rigid contours, Doyle invites viewers to explore their own inner worlds through his visually compelling illustrations. The works weave together themes of pop culture, family, politics, mental health advocacy, and life on Cape Cod, creating a collection that is less about telling a single story and more about opening a door to one’s own esoteric experience. As Michael explains in his artist statement: This collection is a personal exploration of the intense spaces between moments… my work strives to connect the unconnected. Ultimately, my art is an invitation for viewers to embrace the worlds I create and the people and places that exist there — an intimate look behind the curtain. Michael Doyle is a self-taught artist living in Bourne, Massachusetts with his wife and three children. For the past several years he has found his niche in pop surrealism while continuing his lifelong passion for illustration. My work starts and ends with the pen, he says. What happens in between is where I am most comfortable — where art mends with poetry, my other passion. The exhibition will feature a strong selection of Doyle’s illustrations created between 2022 and 2026. All works will be available for purchase.
