'New Expressions— Paintings by Robert Hofherr' July 12 through August 9, 2025.

  True Grit Art Gallery is excited to announce New Expressions, a solo exhibition featuring the vibrant paintings of Marshfield-based artist Robert Hofherr. Beginning with an opening reception on Saturday, July 12, from 6 to 8 PM and running through August 9, this exhibition showcases Hofherr’s transformative approach to everyday subjects—landscapes, still lifes, and people—rendered through an expressionist lens that pulses with emotional vitality. 


  Hofherr’s work embodies Expressionism's animating power. Originally from Maryland, Robert holds a BFA from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City. His artistic goal is to create unique images that “do not give up their secrets all at once,” blending everyday scenes with expressionist intensity to evoke deep emotional responses. His paintings subvert literal representation, focusing on the act of painting to convey the artist’s inner world, creating compelling visuals that invite contemplation. In Roberts' own words, “Expressionism allows me to transform the familiar into something that resonates with emotion, inviting viewers to uncover new layers with each look”. 

  At the opening reception, attendees can meet Robert, hear about his creative process, and explore the stories behind his uniquely animating work. Adult refreshments will create a warm, inviting atmosphere, perfect for engaging with Middleboro’s thriving art community. New Expressions  celebrates the power of art to insert vibrant life into static form, offering viewers a window into the artist's vivid perception of the everyday world.

   True Grit Art Gallery, located at 38 Center St, Middleboro, MA, is dedicated to showcasing inspiring art in our southeastern Massachusetts community. The exhibit runs from its opening night through August 9, with regular hours on Tuesdays from 11 AM to 4 PM, Wednesdays through Fridays from 10 AM to 5 PM, and Saturdays from 10 AM to 3 PM. Admission is free, and all are welcome to the opening reception on July 12.
