Poetic Visions 2026— Sep 12 through Sep 26

  True Grit Art Gallery is excited to bring local poets and visual artists together once again for Poetic Visions 2026, an upcoming exhibition centered around the innovative concept of visual artists responding to poetry!
 
  The opening reception will take place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 PM at 38 Center St, Middleboro, MA, featuring live readings by this year's five selected poets. Complementary adult refreshments will be offered, and attendees will have the chance to view stunning artworks created by over 40 registered visual artists while hearing poems brought to life by their authors. The event is free and open to the public.

  Throughout July 2026, True Grit Art Gallery issued a Call For Poetry to poets across Southern New England, inviting submissions of up to three poems rich with vibrant imagery and strong metaphors for this planned art exhibition. From over 130 submissions by talented poets, five were selected for artists to respond to with original artworks. The unique twist? Each of this year's registered artists was assigned a poem through a random lottery process, ensuring an equitable distribution of artworks per poem. This challenging selection process has sparked a diverse and imaginative collection, set to be exhibited alongside enlarged, printed versions of the chosen poems.

  The Opening Reception marks the premiere of Poetic Visions 2026, with the exhibition running from September 12 through September 26, 2026.

  While poets whose work was chosen will perform live readings at the opening , all submitting poets are invited to share their work at the planned Louder Voices Poetry Open-Mic Night on Thursday, September 24, from 6:30– 8:00 PM.

  Attendees are encouraged to explore the gallery and enjoy the thought-provoking synergy of poetry and art.

  ‘Poetic Visions 2026’ will run from its opening night through September 26th. True Grit Art Gallery is located at 38 Center St in Middleboro, MA. Regular gallery hours are Tues 11-4, Wed thru Fri 10-5, and Sat 10-3.
