Over the month of July, 2025, True Grit Art Gallery put out a Call For Poetry to local poets throughout southern New England. We asked them to submit poems for an upcoming planned art exhibition. The idea was that the gallery would select five poems from a pool of submissions that visual artists could respond to by producing one artwork each. The catch is that the gallery would assign each artist their poem to work with by a purely random, lottery process. This was done to ensure an equitable artworks to poems distribution for the planned exhibit. The results are posted below and 'Poetic Visions' will be on display at our brick and mortar gallery through September 27th. |

The viewer enters the space, with quick glances around the stark rooms. Visual snapshots of one's place. There is a feeling of deep emotional weight on whatever transpired. Ray Carver wrote common words, no flowery text. The simplicity of these Intimate paintings quietly asking the question what to do next. The title is reflective of a protective response to doing something mundane.
