'Poetic Visions 2025' Will run from September 13 through September 27 with an opening reception on Saturday, September 13, from 6-8pm.

Over the month of July, 2025, True Grit Art Gallery put out a Call For Poetry to local poets throughout southern New England, inviting submissions for our upcoming Poetic Visions art exhibition. We received an overwhelming response, with over 60 talented poets sharing their work. Selecting just five poems from this remarkable pool was an incredibly grueling and challenging task, but we’re thrilled with the eclectic and inspiring pieces we've ultimately chosen. These poems will serve as the foundation for visual artists to create original artworks, each assigned through a random lottery process to ensure an equitable distribution for the exhibit. Join us for the opening reception of Poetic Visions 2025 on Saturday, September 13, from 6-8 PM, where the selected poets will be invited to read their poems, bringing their words to life alongside the stunning artworks they inspired. The exhibition will run through September 27, 2025, showcasing the powerful synergy of poetry and visual art. We invite poets and artists to participate in this unique collaboration again next year!

Chosen poetry for ‘Poetic Visions 2025’

We received so many wonderful poems this year from over 60 submitting authors, all of which were a joy to read and reflect upon. Please know that this was never meant to be a competition. The poems we’ve selected— or chose not to select— should reflect no bearing on the poets’ writing capabilities. We would certainly never claim the authority to make that judgment. At the end of the day, our decision reflects our efforts to predict the most eclectic variety of visual art responses possible. It was extremely difficult to pick just five. Nevertheless, the poems we've chosen for our second poetry-inspired exhibition are:

Once Upon a Father, I Romanticize My Childhood
by Christie Beckwith

Christie is an author, poet, and freelance editor at Meraki Press. More importantly, she is a sparkle girlie and an excessive consumer of Dunkin's coffee. You can find her at open mics and all over the US, where she travels for her day job doing Alzheimer’s research. She wants to live everywhere she visits, but is always happy to return to Massachusetts, where she loves her four boys, the cat, and their two dogs.

Stardust Inheritance
by Travers Charron

Travers Charron is a poet based in southeastern Massachusetts, whose work is deeply rooted in the region's natural landscapes and quiet histories. His poetry explores memory, reverence, and the often-overlooked beauty that can be found in ordinary moments. Travers often writes through layered metaphor, inviting multiple interpretations and emotional depth. He is drawn to the intersection of image and word and welcomes opportunities that bridge poetry and the visual arts. Much of his inspiration begins on the forest trails and kettle ponds of nearby Myles Standish State Forest.
