Before the pandemic, Bryce Flint-Somerville was a long-time performer for Blue Man Group. For over twenty years, being a Blue Man allowed him to travel the world, start a family, and make people smile. In March, the pandemic swiftly wiped away his job and his industry. He lives in Arlington, MA.
Both of his paintings in this exhibit, May and View, are attempts at processing the feelings of fear, anxiety, and loss that the pandemic brought.
View takes the darker colors to the extreme, essentially censoring the painting's colors with a highly glossy black, which creates a mirror-like quality for the viewer.
