12"x 12" original oil painting on panel by Dorothy Pentheny in silver frame.
During the lockdown I painted a small oil sketch of the sky every day until I filled a 40 page sketch book. There were a lot of grey skies last Spring near the coast but every day was a different grey, one chaotic and yellowed, the next day was luminous and pink, the sun struggling to break through. And ironically, the day the sun didn’t seem to even come up held the most beautiful variety of greys. I hope my paintings, Witness, Solace, and The End of a Good Day capture the pleasure of seeing more closely and finding something beautiful and consoling during challenging times.
