"Beauty is a manifestation of secret natural laws, which otherwise would have been hidden from us forever." — Goethe On Saturday, October 19th, from 6:00pm until 8pm, True Grit Art Gallery will host an opening reception to launch ‘Out of Sight’’ — a dual exhibition by local photographers Rebecca Skinner and Peter Jardim. The exhibit features fine art photography focusing on abandoned or out-of-the-way places and objects. Rebecca Skinner is a contemporary photographer, living in Franklin, MA. She is a core artist member of the Fountain Street Gallery in Boston and graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design. Abandoned buildings serve as the focus of her most recent series of photographs. She portrays these facilities not only as a preserved instance of a forgotten time, but as the summation of the place’s history and beauty. Peter Jardim currently resides in Scituate, Massachusetts. From a young age he has had an interest in art, engineering, and history. He attended the Massachusetts College of Art where he majored in painting. Near the end of his education he transitioned to photography and developed an interest in old shipyards, airfields, and former industrial sites as subject matter. Photography became a way of helping to tell stories of the past through visual means. The gallery invites the public to come and meet these great local talents and view their works while enjoying complimentary refreshments and socializing with other local art enthusiasts. This event is free and open to the public. This show is on view from its opening night through November 16th. True Grit Art Gallery is located at 38 Center St in Middleboro MA. Regular gallery hours are Tuesdays 11am - 4pm, Wednesday thru Fridays 10am-5pm, and Saturdays from 10am - 3pm.
